Maybe one day I will start making thoughtful lj entries again. One day, but not today: today, I have a Very Important Question to ask you. If you were going to your company Christmas party, would you wear

(1) the three-and-a-half-inch-heeled fuck-me ankle-strap shoes (man, that was a lot of hyphens right there), or

(2) the two-inch-heeled comfy slides?

Much is riding on your response. Do not fail me, friends!

No one I particularly want to impress, no. The ankle-straps are as comfy as 3+-inch heels can be, and the dinner is a sit-down catered dinner at a historic house.

I guess this it boils down to aesthetics, really. :-?

In that case, I'd say (1). There's nothing like a sexy pair of shoes, as long as you don't have to do much walking.

Hummm. Sounds kind of posh enough to warrant the three-inch. I say go for it. At least you won't have to stand in them, so the comfort factor is moot, and it's nice to wear fuck-me shoes once in a while. What about the rest of the outfit? And can we get a photo of the fuck-me shoes?

Oh! The heels then, most definitely. As long as they truly work with your outfit. What are you wearing?

Knee-length skirt -- is it a tulip skirt that's fitted over the hips and flares out a little at the hem? Because if so, then it's a tulip skirt -- in a print that's mostly purple and white circles scattered on a field of black, with a purple fitted sweater. It's a fairly all-purpose outfit; I think either pair of shoes would work with it.

Not necessarily--a tulip skirt will be tailored in a full bell shape at the hips and a bit tapered at the hemline to balance the volume above (if my fashion-mag life lessons do not fail me). But I am envisioning your skirt well!

Sounds ladylike enough that you can sexx it up a bit. Yeah, definitely the heels! Ooooh, are you going to wear your lovely new peter pan-collar jacket too?

Well, I've seen them go both ways, those tricky tulip skirts, definitely the silhouette you describe, but also the one I describe. Hence the confusion. Surely tulip skirts cannot be shaped both ways?

I wore the heels, left the jacket at home because it was just the wrong color. My feet were a little sore at the end of the night -- more standing than I thought there'd be -- but otherwise I have no regrets. :D I looked as hot as it's possible for me to look, so happy.
