I am receiving on-the-spot temporal punishment for my sins in the form of three large ulcers in my mouth, one on my tongue where it touches my molar. I don't remember having this many painful raw spots since my braces rubbed holes in me on a regular basis, and omg I hate to be a baby about this but the immobilized head and shoulders yes they are still immobilized are nothing to the SEARING UNGOVERNED PAIN of forgetting and drinking orange juice with three ulcers.

I have just three words to say to whoever thinks to plague me into good behavior:

You know what I hate almost as bad as suffering through a mouthful of ulcers? It's when they finally go away, but they do it so gradually that I forget I was ever in searing pain for days on end. I think that they should just hurt like hell, the way they already do, but then magically and INSTANTLY vanish, so we can appreciate their going away, instead of remembering like three days later, "Oh, yeah. Helluva canker sore I had. Must be gone, because I don't feel anything."

And whoa. Just remembering those orthodontic raw spots gives me the shivers.

I believe the Pope is punishing you from beyond the grave. Having completed his mission on earth, he is now visiting every lapsed Catholic on the planet to bring them closer to God. I don't know why he started in the Ms, or in Macon, but you might want to give your dad a call and see how he's feeling.

I always have a transitional period between pain and gone, where they're sensitive and maybe a little itchy before they heal completely. Possibly mine take longer to heal because I just can't stop testing them with my tongue! "I wonder if it's still OUCH YES IT IS STILL THERE"

I know. I'm not sorry I wore braces, given the original configuration of my teeth, but I totally paid for my current straight and even teeth. Paid and paid and paid. I still have dreams about the way my teeth felt after a tightening! I have not had braces for twenty years, and I can still remember everything about them.

The Pope could visit the plagues of the earth on my dad, and my dad would remain unmoved. He is mulish that way. But me, I am starting to be persuaded.

JP, get these sores out of my mouth and I shall reconsider my position on Sunday masses and confessions and rosaries. Not abortion, though, or birth control. Smite me how you may, I will stand firm!!

I'd love to go! It's Saturday, so I'll be in town, and I've taken that day off work, so I won't have to be at ye dreadfull olde bookstore!

I need to get cracking on my scarf, though. I haven't actually worked on it since our last meeting!

And if my ulcers are still there by next Saturday, I will probably have to think about seeing a doctor. Let's hope they're gone by then!
