Do. You. Want. To. Play. A. Game?

I was thinking about it because that computer-generated question kept running through my head for some reason, and I eventually came round to thinking about it in conjunction with its plot, that is, the dozens of movies, starting with maybe 2001 and running right up through a preview we saw tonight. That plot where computers wreak unimaginable havoc on this world of heroic innocents, who subsequently beat the machines back into submission.
Well, it's a cliche, and has been for a long time now. But here's the thing. Cliches are fascinating, aren't they? I mean, picking one up and examining it, like an utterly familiar word that if you look at it too many times starts to look unfamiliar, or entirely unlike itself, and becomes something else altogether.
I've been writing lately, is the thing. Not a lot, and not really anything worth posting. But I feel like stretching a little, so I was wondering if you wanted to, as the simulator in War Games would say, play. a. game. You'd give me a character or pairing in any fandom as long as it's a fandom I have some hope of writing credibly, and a cliche, and in return, I would offer you up a drabble of your very own. I can't promise you anything especially fine, but I think this might be fun.

Anyway, S_ and I talked about having the Stitch and Bitch this Thursday but I don’t think I can make it and we really haven’t been telling people about it, so I’m going to try to move the date to next week. Will you be in town?

And, oh, man, I'm sorry the news isn't better about your car, and why won't insurance cover the rental if YOU HAVE TO LIVE WITHOUT A CAR FOR OVER A WEEK? Do they not know that we do not live in NYC? No subway in our town, man.
Cars suck. I think we should be like SL Jackson in Pulp Fiction and walk the earth.

Date: 2005-03-16 04:58 pm (UTC)But guess what? After a lot of screaming and shouting, I'm happy to say that the whole car thing finally seems to be resolved!! My little flying egg is out of the shop as of today and sitting in my driveway as I type this! Which is a great thing since my insurance ended up not coughing up the goods after all and if I had to go one more week with the rental I would be b-r-o-k-e with a capital B.
Anyway, I was considering having the Stitch and Bitch Monday since I'm starting to work on the play with T_ and Monday is the one night we have off. However, S_ has to close that night so I don't want to leave her out. Maybe we could have two times set up or something? What do you think?
