Do. You. Want. To. Play. A. Game?

Tonight on my way out, I was thinking about the Matthew Broderick movie War Games. Does anyone remember that one? (Besides, of course, for redkisskate, who's already answered that question.) I was thinking about it because that computer-generated question kept running through my head for some reason, and I eventually came round to thinking about it in conjunction with its plot, that is, the dozens of movies, starting with maybe 2001 and running right up through a preview we saw tonight. That plot where computers wreak unimaginable havoc on this world of heroic innocents, who subsequently beat the machines back into submission.

Well, it's a cliche, and has been for a long time now. But here's the thing. Cliches are fascinating, aren't they? I mean, picking one up and examining it, like an utterly familiar word that if you look at it too many times starts to look unfamiliar, or entirely unlike itself, and becomes something else altogether.

I've been writing lately, is the thing. Not a lot, and not really anything worth posting. But I feel like stretching a little, so I was wondering if you wanted to, as the simulator in War Games would say, play. a. game. You'd give me a character or pairing in any fandom as long as it's a fandom I have some hope of writing credibly, and a cliche, and in return, I would offer you up a drabble of your very own. I can't promise you anything especially fine, but I think this might be fun.

Ooh, fun! I want to play (just you know, try not to take control of NORAD or anything, cause DEFCON 1 really sucks) So how about Daniel aka Dream v.2 and Thessaly trapped together in a small area of your choosing (an elevator, someone’s dream, Crowley’s crystal cage thing, etc)? See. I am determined to make you write about the Endless ;-)
