Okay, Internet, I have a kind of delicate medical problem and I was wondering, before I confessed to a doctor, if there was anyone who'd experienced something similar, and whether anyone had any advice as to a cure.

I have had a Maroon 5 song stuck in my head for three days! It will not go away! And it is especially painful considering the fact that up till two weeks ago I was blissfully unaware that Maroon 5 even existed.

I have tried all the usual cures, and apart from surgery, I'm not sure what to try next. What can I do?

You mean just buying the song and listening to it 800 times didn't work? Because that's what I always do, and it works like a charm, except when it's the theme song for PBS's cartoon "Caillou", and then I'm stuck with that mental tinnitus until I stub my toe or bang my elbow on a countertop or something, and then it's released in a stream of profanity.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery; is there a Hallmark card for this?

Well, I haven't bought the song, because I hear it at least four times a day at work, and THAT IS ENOUGH AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED. I know I should just download it.

Perhaps I should try self-mutilation.

And if there is not a hallmark card for this, by God, there should be!!

The spouse says that you can drive any song out of your head by humming a bit of Aerosmith's "Love In an Elevator." He calls it "the sorbet of pop music."

The problem is that it's a very rare occasion when whatever is stuck in your head is actually worse than Aerosmith's "Love In an Elevator."

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAa

True on both counts: I have been singing "Love in an Elevator" all night, and the Maroon 5 song was empirically the better song.

Quel tragedy!

I drove for miles and miles and wound up at your door, baby. You know it.
