The wind blew and blew today. It rattled the bones of our big old ugly office building until I thought everything was going to come down, and in the process the temperature dropped about 30 degrees after lunch. And as if to signify that this really, really is the end of summer, no more ninety-degree days I swear it, the strap of my all-time favorite $3.99+tax Walgreen's shoes broke, so that, in a Ramona Quimby moment, I was forced to staple it back together in order to get around for the rest of the day. (Once I colored the staples with a Sharpie, you couldn't tell they were there.)

Why am I telling you this? I'm just happy about the weather, really. That and it's kind of a slow news day.

What kind of shoes does Walgreen's sell for $3.99...?

It's hard to describe them; they're a kind of flipflop, I guess, but with really narrow straps, a toe-ring and a strap that goes from side to side across the instep, and another across the base of your toes. They're black velvet, and the top of the sole is straw.

Like this, kind of.

*rubs eyes* In my dream last night, they were reddish-ginghsm Chinese slippers. :O You were sort of shifting back and forth in them, like you had to go to the bathroom or something. I think we were standing in line at Walgreen's.

I would be happy to have reddish gingham chinese slippers! As far as I know, though, the Walgreens on Canal Street has never sold them.

Well, you know how you were talking about writing again... perhaps this will boost your resolve? I thought it was a good review. I definitely agreed with that part about every word in your stories seeming to fall in exactly the right place. I don't know that they're going to be the right word until the moment I read them, but as soon as I do I'm sure. (I hope that makes sense.)

I was actually looking for West Wing recs, because Crackvan's one of my best sources for those. Then I clicked on the HP memories on a whim to see if there was anything I'd missed lately and there you were. I do like Crackvan but I'm *shocked* they don't have a House category yet. Sarvi posted some recently though, which are worth checking out: http://www.livejournal.com/users/sarvihaara/33628.html

I never got this comment in my inbox--sorry it's taken me so long to answer!

I have been writing, more or less. I mean, not a lot, but I'm about a third of the way through the story that I've started, and so I feel as though I might conceivably finish. (And thanks for saying those things about my writing! Knowing that you feel that way, it definitely makes more keen to put things down on paper.)

Thanks also for the house links! For obvious reasons, I don't like to click on rec links from work, but I'll check them out when I get home tonight. :D:D:D
