I am reminded of a song called "Over the Sea to Skye," which I believe was a song about Bonny Prince Charlie leaving England. It was a favorite of my sister's, and I looked forward to fourth grade music because of it (it was only in the fourth graders' music books.) Alas, we only sang it once, because nobody else liked it.
You and E. must have bonded over "Over the Sea to Skye," because I remember it being one of her favorite songs, too!
Thinking back on my career as a classroom musician, we used to sing some of the oddest songs. South African protest songs and songs about peanut butter. And of course, Don Gato.
