Now I can't sleep all day

I got a parking ticket today, parked outside my own house. I mean, yes, I was breaking the law, though I didn't realize that having two wheels up on the edge of the sidewalk was illegal here. But! A ticket! Outside my own house! From a police force which doesn't bother to ticket speeding in school zones! O, the humanity, man.

At least I wasn't the only one on my street to get one, though; the whole length of it, you can see soggy strips of yellow carbonless paper stuck under people's windshield wipers. And there's something else, too, that makes me not care so deeply about my parking ticket which I will pay immediately because I do not want to spend another night in prison ever again, and that thing is that I HAVE A JOB. I got called for an interview from my new best friend Tori this morning, went into the office this afternoon, talked to them for 45 minutes, and within a half hour after my return home, they'd made an offer. I start Monday, can you believe it? I HAVE A JOB. Let me say it again, in case you've forgotten: I HAVE A JOB.

I am already planning my museum-a-licious visit to DC! It will have to be in 2007, but at that time I will descend upon you in the great state which I hear the gainfully employed affect when traveling.

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA

♥ I am all better now, though. Also I pay my traffic violations, dutifully, the second I get them so that nine years later I am not arrested for them.

I AM SO VERY HAPPY ALSO!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I was going to write you! I thought you were swamped and did not want to distract you! I hope this means you get a little time tonight to relax!

I am looking forward to telling you all about it in detail so exhausting you will regret having ever allowed me that freedom. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

And Jen S! She gets the best jobs -- I take it Apple was not the wondrous experience she was hoping it would be, or was it only ever supposed to be temporary?

Isn't he gorgeous! He knows it too; he is so full of himself.

Picspam coming soon! Maybe this weekend, if I can manage it.

You know, though, that may be true. It actually seemed like an office full of quiet, competent people! Unheard of, really, and so maybe a place I will fit, to a certain degree. I would like to fit, you see; it is a matter of great importance to me.

All right, 2007 it is! And if I have not seen you in the city of "Taxation Without Representation" by December 31 of next year, you will have to pay the price...mwa ha ha ha...
I'm not sure what the price is. Possibly prank phone calls, or bizarrely timed pizza deliveries. Or the recitation of Library of Congress Classification tables ad infinitum. I will think on this and get back to you.

I had to bring work home, but I briefly caught a glimpse of the light at the end of the Medicare tunnel. Please feel free to share as many details as possible! I will read avidly, even if I don't respond immediately.

Jen loves Apple ridiculously but she can't survive on PT hours, which is what they're giving her right now. She's also been working PT at her sucky old designer job to keep her benefits. She can finally quit the job she hates. She always says that her goal is to work for companies whose products she loves. Now she has accomplished it twice over. I am trying not to hate her for it.

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2006-09-08 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, man, I am pretty envious of Jen as well. Someone on my fl posted a poll the other day, and one of the questions was, Do you need to believe in the overall vision - for want of a better word - of a company to work there? Several of us agreed that much as we'd like to answer that question Yes, it was pretty much a luxury-type consideration when it came to writing the checks for the mortgage.

And I will write to you!

O.o

You, of all people. Wow.

: )

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2006-09-08 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
O.o was pretty much my reaction too! :D

[identity profile] imkalena.livejournal.com 2006-09-08 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
There's nothing more important in a job than coworkers you can feel comfortable with. That's the make or break.

[identity profile] laurelwood.livejournal.com 2006-09-08 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Gosh, I guess I must've glossed right over that "night in jail" tidbit. o.O I'll bet you have a really cool ballpoint pen tattoo to commemorate your incarceration, don't you? :D

What a horrible thing to go through, but it must be such a fun story to tell. I'm boggling over how out of place you must have looked amongst the standard jail throng.

[identity profile] luthien.livejournal.com 2006-09-08 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
That's wonderful news! Yay! :-D

The ticket? Bah, police! They must have been told they needed to up their revenue from fines for this month or something. (D works for the police while not actually being one: this is his view on such matters. *g*)

[identity profile] treehavn.livejournal.com 2006-09-08 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yey! You have a job!

Boo! Parking tickets suck arse.

But, yey, you have a job!

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2006-09-08 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Admirably succinct! :D Yey! and may I say that is a very fine Jayne icon.

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2006-09-08 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm inclined to agree with you and D, since I've lived here for seven months, parked out front nearly every day, and never got one ticket before!

And Yay! is right! I feel like cheering randomly whenever I think about it!

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2006-09-08 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I was truly horrible -- so horrible that for the longest time I just flatly refused to talk about it -- but now, yeah, it does make a funny story. And really, it's of great comfort to me that most people's reaction is WHAT, YOU?!

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2006-09-08 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait I just saw the part about the open front door! :O:O:O:O:O I'm glad you are still alive! No thanks to the fine peace officers of our nation!

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2006-09-08 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
:O I forgot to tell you about my ballpoint tattoo! It is a tiny teardrop next to my eye: one teardrop for every night of my life lost to the ball and chain.

[identity profile] amelia-eve.livejournal.com 2006-09-09 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Huzzah! O frabjous day, calloo callay!
