My mother came through her surgery just fine -- they found a couple more lumps, but we won't find out more about them for another week -- but I'm glad I took the afternoon off to spend with her anyway, not only because I was worried about her, but also because I may never get another chance to see my mother stoned and demanding cheetos and coke because she's got the munchies.

Thanks so much for the love and good wishes, folks. They are very much appreciated, by my whole family.

Heh. One of my most vivid memories from childhood is my dad, high on morphine having had his hip replaced, singing the Mickey Mouse song whilst holding two (clean) cardboard pee tubes on his head like ears.
