Here is an indication of my state of mind, lately: it took me about two days to realize that my constantly-upset stomach has been probably not so much about the large caramel-vanilla latte I had on Sunday night as it is about the HUGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY I AM ABOUT TO FORK OVER FOR A HOUSE JUST SHY OF A CENTURY OLD.

My stomach has indeed been upset; I lie awake at night feeling pukey and indigestion-ic and chow down on Tums which of course is terrible for the system anyway. But that is not to say that I'm not pleased. Because I am! I really am! Things are proceeding apace! Contracts have been accepted and signed! Contractors have been hired! Loans gotten in order! Inspection scheduled for next week! Close set for the second week in December OMG!

Does it always happen like this, like a rollercoaster? The slow climb and the dropoff? No wonder I'm feeling weird.

:::

I'm finishing up the last bits and pieces before getting on an airplane this evening for a trip to Dallas to visit my brother (on this trip, I'll spend more time in transit, in airports and cars, than I'll actually spend awake and visiting with my family, but whatever), where super-sensitive stomach or no I will indulge in the usual mother-designed-and-executed Thanksgiving food orgy. Mmmm, oyster dressing and homemade mac-and-cheese. Mmmm, turkey roasted with orange.

What are you guys doing tomorrow? (You American guys, in particular, though I would certainly be up for hearing what people in other places are doing--I don't mean to be America-centric, but these things are hard to avoid on American holidays, it seems.) What are your favorite holiday dinner dishes? Your preferred method of spending the day? I hope, whatever you're doing, whatever you're eating, wherever you're going, that you have a lovely day.

This'll actually be the first Thanksgiving that I'm spending in any kind of non-family festive thing. My friend M and I are getting together, roasting a chicken, making two casseroles, and eating a shitload of stuffing while studying like mad. It'll be a fantastic day.

Mmm. Homemade mac-and-cheese. Enjoy yourself in Dallas, dear.

I like the Thanksgivings I've spent with friends best, I think. I hope you had a great time!

well, my favorite meal in the whole world is my grandma's mac and cheese (she uses what she calls 'pigetti noodle-thats her lil' secret) and also, i love oyster dressing and mash potatoes (btw, tiff and i were listening to a mariah carey interview and they asked her the same question; she replied in an overly sultry voice (moan) "mash potatoes, oh yeah" and then another sexy...well not-so-sexy moan giggle which i will call a miggle.) I love food!!!!!!! Everyone at my work knows it and tiff knows it and my rents knows it and my nose knows it. hmmm. I sure am excited about gettin off 3 HOURS early.

PS-relax about the casa....its all going ot work out. Even if the roof caves in, you have some good friends to help you out.

PPS---i'm not going to revise this, so if it suck, del with it!

I like all the starchy Thanksgiving sides. The bread and mashed potatoes and all that. Yum yum.

I'm so excited about the house. Keep us posted, Sweetie.

YES. My mom asked us what we wanted--we ended up all cooking together, but she had the recipes--and what we all came up with would have given Dr. Atkins a stroke.
