Since no one wanted to sing for me last night (hey, I was willing to sing too, let's not forget that), I have spent the past day or so industriously occupying my own time. None of my pastimes in any way involves cleaning my apartment, I'm sorry to say, but at least that means that now that I have got the urge to share them with you, they will be slightly more interesting than they would have been if all I were talking about was the laundry. About which, I assure you, I could go on all day. So you may take a moment to thank me silently for sparing you.

  1. I stumbled on this link to an [adult swim] version of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." I feel that there is perhaps something missing toward the end, but it is still fun. If you like the [adult swim] sort of thing, and if, like me, you haven't yet seen it because you have not the cable television.

  2. I have had this craving all day for caramel apples. What I really want is the proper kind, on a stick, dipped in hot caramel and dried on sheets of waxed paper, but because I am just one person and lazy besides, I forewent (is that a word?) the Real Caramel Apple route and instead just stopped at the store and bought some caramel fruit dip, which is what I had for lunch, and my lunch started me thinking about what else would be good dipped in caramel. Not everything, of course--tuna sandwiches and smoked salmon probably aren't going to be all that great--but a surprising lot of things. Now I want to have a caramel fondue party.

  3. I bought myself 100 icons, and commenced an icon-making orgy, and in case you had not really considered this before, I would like just to mention that 100 icons is an absolute fuckload. It took me all morning just to come up with 40!

  4. I was also possessed of the inexplicable desire to own something with the Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil monkeys on, so I went hunting on ebay and discovered that as of this writing, there are 428 items resulting from a hear speak see no evil search. Not just monkeys, of course: there are frogs and penguins and elephants and cherubim (the plural seems inappropriately highfalutin', given the context) and grasshoppers and skulls and gargoyles and pigs, and you get the idea. But there are plenty of monkeys, yes indeed. Oh, the plethora of monkeys available! In any form, in any material, you could possibly want, and some that you probably never considered.

  5. I decided I wanted to put a pinwheel in my bathroom. Do not ask me to detail the thought process which led to this decision; I could not possibly do so. Suffice to say that I decided that a nice colorful pinwheel would be an excellent decorative item in my tiny and festive bathroom. And as I was considering this, it also occurred to me that I could make one to my exact specifications, and so when I was out buying caramel sauce I also went to Michaels and bought the materials for them. They had scrapbooking papers on sale for pretty cheap, and so I now have the capacity to make about 400 pinwheels, if I so desire, and I was thinking, in a sort of connection to [livejournal.com profile] laurelwood's post about TPing the houses of strangers: I would like to do that with pinwheels instead of toilet paper. Imagine going out to get your newspaper and finding about 50 pinwheels whirling on your front lawn. I do not know why this idea pleases me almost beyond coherence, but it really, really does.

  6. At Michaels, I was stricken by the urge to make Christmas gifts. I am frequently struck by this urge, and rarely does it happen, but maybe it will, this year! Those Fridays need to be filled somehow, and of course, as this post should make clear, I am incapable of coming up with ways to eat up my afternoons. Anyway, I have a list made and everything!

  7. And finally, as if the above were not enough to make me wonder where all this spare energy is coming from, I have been working on, and am about halfway through, creating a soundtrack CD for each of the Harry Potter books. It started out as a top-five list for each book, and ballooned out from there. It is proving very satisfying to create, but I'm not really sure what the result will sound like. It'll probably be a mess, but. Oh well.

I am always ready to spread the caramel love. No pun intended. :D

O_- I will add borders as soon as I am able, o exacting one. I thought about doing it beforehand, but after combing getty images for hours finding and cropping the images, I was ready to slap them up any old way.

slkjgalf My cat just took a running jump at my desk, landed, and totally skidded over the edge. I thought I would share this with you--being a cat owner, you've probably got stories like this too.

You have designed the perfect evening o' fun, you know: a caramel fondue (perhaps a separate vat of melted marshmallow fluff, just for those of us who've been craving that lately?), then a good hand-washing, and finally, when a cloud passes over the moon, a good pinwheeling of the neighborhood. I saw somebody's house once that had been flamingoed, but that's too expensive for me, so pinwheels sounds like an even more whimsical and economical solution (and they move in the breeze, too, which flamingoes do not).

I just know that I'm going to want to steal every one of your new icons. You have such a knack.

When I come visit you, that is totally how we will spend a night!

I have been told that my icons are woefully lacking in borders. I hope that otherwise they please you! (And thanks for the compliment! :D)

I've been to Boring, OR, by the way. We went in search of the Boring Strip Club, featuring the Boring Topless Dancers. We never did find it. Sad, really.
