Oh nooooooo. :/ Poor FLan. Poor you. I hope she's feeling better soon.

ME TOO. I did call the emergency vet, and they told me to monitor her food and water intake and watch her carefully, and bring her in if she seemed to get worse, and otherwise to wait.

I don't like it when my girl is sick. :((

I don't like it either!

*pats, loves her*

Call the vet, I think. It's possible that she ate something she shouldn't. Besides that, she'll need fluids. Don't worry about the expense -- I can help you if you need it. I think she'll be fine, but I know you'll both feel better if she sees a vet tonight. Okay?

*hugs*

*hugs back* love you, kid. Hope your mom's doing okay.

Oh, I'm glad to read through the comments and see that you've called the emergency vet. I hope your sweet puppy starts feeling better very soon. What could be ailing her? Does she eat random garbage, the way a dog friend of mine does, or is it something else? Poor baby- both of you. That's a whole lotta cleaning supplies. I'll bet your windows are open as wide as they'll go.

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2005-10-21 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Hahahaha, my windows and also my doors, which both have screens! My apartment now just smells sort of bleachy, which is so much better.

Flan would eat random garbage if I let her, but I don't leave much lying around. There are two possibilities I can think of, as far as eating stuff goes: (1) she's gotten into the litterbox again, and it's not agreeing with her, or (2) she's gotten into something hidde on the floor while I was spraying for fleas, which I have to say I hope for once that it's the first thing and not the second. :(:(:(

I'm going to take her to the vet first thing in the morning, regardless, I think.

Oh, poor baby. Love to you both.

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2005-10-21 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
:( Thank you!

Oh, how scary. I'm glad you called the emergency vet and I hope your poor dog feels better tomorrow.

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2005-10-21 10:54 am (UTC)(link)
Well, she hasn't been sick all night, so that's a good sign, right? I'm calling my real vet as soon as they open, just to make sure.

*hug*

Oh, poor Flan! Poor you! I hope she is feeling 100 times better by now. How awful!

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2005-10-21 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
She was better this morning--by this I mean that she didn't get sick last night--but I brought her to the vet this morning anyway. I'll find out in a couple of hours what they have to say.

It is pretty awful, isn't it? A listless, weak, clingy pet is just heartbreaking and helpless-making.

[identity profile] alkaloid.livejournal.com 2005-10-21 12:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, man. I hope it was a litter box raid, myself.

What brand of flea spray did you use? Some are known for causing problems.

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2005-10-21 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I am hoping litterbox raid or food re-acclimatization (she was at the vet's and they feed a different sort of food there), but the reaction just seems kind of excessive for either of those things.

I used Zodiac indoor spray. I looked online to see if I could find any specific info about adverse reactions, but didn't really see anything. I am wondering if she happened on a little something in the house that had some spray on it? :/ Of course the spray is toxic, but I was hoping that in leaving her to be boarded for a couple extra days, I was sparing her the worst of it.

[identity profile] alkaloid.livejournal.com 2005-10-21 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Erm...if Zodiac is by Hartz, then I've been warned off their flea stuff repeatedly.

[identity profile] alkaloid.livejournal.com 2005-10-21 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
...admittedly, I was warned off by someone who has her dogs on a raw diet, so YMMV.
