I think that this is why I relish writing for you so much. It makes it possible for me to be not like I am, but as I desire for you to see me. I am sitting in a hotel room tonight (and have been here all week), eating my salad in bed and listening to Louis Prima and Lou Monte. But tonight there is a difference. One of my best and dearest people is also in a hotel tonight, and I imagine us living parallel lives, in identical hotel rooms, in our pajamas in front of our laptops, green-and-burgundy bedspreads and night tables with bottles of water and vanity cases under the sink, missing our dogs and reading fanfiction and getting sleepy, a thousand miles away from each other, and counting.

I don't know why this pleases me so much. But it does.

That said: Jonathan is worth the effort. Is his new book in the store yet??? I am very excited about this! So excited that I am actually going to pay for the hardcover rather than check it out, or wait for it to come out in paperback or bargain.

I'm fairly certain I saw it on the front octagon for 20% off. The cover has a big red hand on it, so it's rather distinctive.

And there's no use calling Jonathan because I just spoke to him and told him about that affair you had last year with that Italian count. Ha! He was heartbroken of course, but I'm heading over there right now to "console" him.

I am home now. It took me an hour to locate my car in the IAH parking garage. And it is 70 degrees warmer here than it was in the place I left this morning. I miss it.

about the weather

I am currently in a quandary, trying to decide what to pack, because the weather's supposed to be chilly this week where I'll be, but it doesn't feel like it could possibly be chilly there, because it is so lovely here.

You found your car! Yay! I hate to think of you wandering around those parking lots forever, which seems possible to me, having been to IAH. And I'm especially glad you're home safe, and that flying is agreeing with you a little bit more.
