constance: (Come waste time with me.)

A while ago--a couple of years now--I was part of a community that made top-five lists. Some of my current friendslist was involved, in fact, and I think fondly of this community, often. Man, we top-fived the hell out of everything, and had a terrific time doing it. Someone posted a theme, and then we all ponied up our lists, and it was one of the best times of my spotty career as a blogger.

So it was with ineffable delight that I saw this meme tonight on [livejournal.com profile] resonant8's journal:

Ask me for "top five" lists of pretty much anything, and I will list you my top five of that thing or things.

Which is sort of the exact opposite of that old, long-dead community, but I was stricken with longing anyway. Don't you want to play? Say you do. Come ooooonnnnn.

I really want to do this meme too, but I'm afraid nobody would respond and I'd look like a total lamer. :|

I would like to know your top five:

  • fictional places to live.
  • songs to Sing Loudly in the car.
  • dishes you can cook yourself.

... I fear these are all dumb. :|

This was my worry, that no one would respond. Actually, because I am completely lame, it is always my worry. But if you do it, I will respond! Not till tomorrow, because wow it is getting late, too late even to make these lists tonight. But I will.

Not dumb at all! >:O!

fictional places to live.
  1. The Shire

  2. Spinner's End :D Now that Snape is on the run, Remus and I can live there together.

  3. The Littles's house (but as a Little)

  4. The Mortmains' house-grafted-onto-a-castle from I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith

  5. ahahahaahahaaa I just thought of this: do you remember that a long time ago there was a fad for fabled creatures books? It may have been before your time, but I think the gnome book started it all, and I had that book and God, did I want to live in a Gnome house, a little rabbit warren (literally) made up of tiny little cupboard beds and ingenious plumbing.

songs to Sing Loudly in the car.
I don't know why old songs are so much more satisfying for me to sing at the top of my lungs, but they are. Try not to laugh too hard, okay?
  1. "At Last" by Etta James

  2. "Gimme Shelter" by The Rolling Stones

  3. "Stop Dragging My Heart Around" by Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks

  4. "Respect" by Aretha Franklin

  5. "Rock and Roll" by Led Zeppelin

dishes you can cook yourself.
I can cook most things with a recipe book. Here are five things I can cook without a recipe book:
  1. beans and rice of any sort

  2. baked potato soup

  3. marinara sauce

  4. spinach lasagna

  5. chicken salad (is that cooking? If not, say mushroom risotto.)
