constance: (Come waste time with me.)

A while ago--a couple of years now--I was part of a community that made top-five lists. Some of my current friendslist was involved, in fact, and I think fondly of this community, often. Man, we top-fived the hell out of everything, and had a terrific time doing it. Someone posted a theme, and then we all ponied up our lists, and it was one of the best times of my spotty career as a blogger.

So it was with ineffable delight that I saw this meme tonight on [livejournal.com profile] resonant8's journal:

Ask me for "top five" lists of pretty much anything, and I will list you my top five of that thing or things.

Which is sort of the exact opposite of that old, long-dead community, but I was stricken with longing anyway. Don't you want to play? Say you do. Come ooooonnnnn.

Haircuts. Best or worst. Your choice.

Oh worst, that's just more funner.

  1. My first haircut: I was six years old, and my hair was long, and my mother and I fought and fought over that hair. My hair tangled really easily, and I hated having it brushed because it hurt, and she hated brushing it because it always ended up in a tantrum or tears, and finally one day she just hacked it all off. When she finished, I looked like a little boy, and we both burst into tears. We had a tacit agreement after that to never fight over my hair again.

  2. My most recent haircut, minus the one I had to get to fix it: It was bad. It was baaaaad. Trust me.

  3. The one where I wanted a pixie cut and she gave me a crewcut instead.

  4. The one where he said, "I didn't think the one you wanted would look good on you, so I gave you this ass-ugly fringey mullet instead." That may not be a direct quote.

  5. The one where my brother sneaked up behind me and cut out a big hank of hair, just after the #1 haircut had started to grow out. The fact that I probably deserved to be tortured didn't make it any easier to bear.
