Oh, man, I have to tell you about this before I forget! I was driving home from work today, and passed one of my favorite houses in the neighborhood -- I keep meaning to post pictures of some of my favorites, and keep forgetting -- and there was a YARD SALE sign posted, and lots of stuff for sale, lots of furniture, lots of quarter-size furniture. I mean, let me make this perfectly clear: these people had what looked like (from my vantage point of a Saturn Ion going 20 mph) a yard full of furniture, sensible furniture like Windsor chairs and gateleg tables and pretty cabinets, all of it designed for people about two and a half feet tall.

I thought at first that my neighborhood must actually have encroached on the Shire for all these years without my ever knowing it, but I think Hobbits are bigger than this, right? And after that, I sort of drew a blank in my musings. What on earth could people possibly need with several rooms' worth of teeny furniture? I look to you for guidance, here, friends, for any sort of clue as to what's going on, why the furniture in the first place, why the wholesale ridding process.

P.S. I should add that that one glimpse of that one front yard has been enough to bump me out of the deeply shitty mood I have been in all day, so yay for that, at least!
