State of the gastro-intestinal tract
Nov. 23rd, 2005 11:40 amHere is an indication of my state of mind, lately: it took me about two days to realize that my constantly-upset stomach has been probably not so much about the large caramel-vanilla latte I had on Sunday night as it is about the HUGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY I AM ABOUT TO FORK OVER FOR A HOUSE JUST SHY OF A CENTURY OLD.
My stomach has indeed been upset; I lie awake at night feeling pukey and indigestion-ic and chow down on Tums which of course is terrible for the system anyway. But that is not to say that I'm not pleased. Because I am! I really am! Things are proceeding apace! Contracts have been accepted and signed! Contractors have been hired! Loans gotten in order! Inspection scheduled for next week! Close set for the second week in December OMG!
Does it always happen like this, like a rollercoaster? The slow climb and the dropoff? No wonder I'm feeling weird.
:::
I'm finishing up the last bits and pieces before getting on an airplane this evening for a trip to Dallas to visit my brother (on this trip, I'll spend more time in transit, in airports and cars, than I'll actually spend awake and visiting with my family, but whatever), where super-sensitive stomach or no I will indulge in the usual mother-designed-and-executed Thanksgiving food orgy. Mmmm, oyster dressing and homemade mac-and-cheese. Mmmm, turkey roasted with orange.
What are you guys doing tomorrow? (You American guys, in particular, though I would certainly be up for hearing what people in other places are doing--I don't mean to be America-centric, but these things are hard to avoid on American holidays, it seems.) What are your favorite holiday dinner dishes? Your preferred method of spending the day? I hope, whatever you're doing, whatever you're eating, wherever you're going, that you have a lovely day.
