A living legend needs eggs.
Oct. 4th, 2005 11:32 pmI am going to be seeing Serenity one day soon, maybe this week, maybe next, and since I've never seen Firefly at all, I downloaded the series and have gotten about two-thirds of the way through.
And at first, I am afraid that I did not see what so many of you on my friendslist saw in it, and I went in expecting to be extra-happy with it (and therefore I was extra-willing to give it a chance). I sat through the first few episodes disappointed, and then I had an epiphany that went something like this: yeah, okay, I kind of like the characters and the conceit is interesting but as far as execution, it seems a little ohhhhhhhhhhh okay I get it.
So I'm officially converted, I guess. It starts slow, sure, but it ends up every bit as clever and funny and morally ambiguous and strangely touching as one would expect something springing fully-formed from the forehead of Joss Whedon to be. And I really do like all of the main characters very much, but OMG is there anyone as wonderful in the whole wide world, as perfect, as Jayne?
Do not bother answering that question. I think we all know perfectly well that there is not.
