more fannish minutiae
Feb. 21st, 2009 07:29 am- Last night I dreamed that I saw a Johnny Cash action figure on a sale table at a Hallmark store (I KNOW). He was dressed in black -- of course -- but came accessoried with a red cowboy shirt very much like this one, and he had a guitar that folded out into a teak lounge chair. A transformer guitar, if you will. I didn't buy it because I was trying to find a present for our office manager, but I couldn't stand not owning it for more than a day, and went back to find it gone.
So obviously I woke up with an intense need for an action figure depicting my spirit guide Johnny Cash. And it turns out there is one. It also turns out that it is not as awesome as the action figure in my head. But when does that ever happen?
Now I just have to wait until my electric company is not demanding payment in krugerrands and stock certificates, and I will own it. - On a side note: don't you wish more Transformers turned into lounge chairs?
- This is a plea to Buffy people: I watched the show intermittently, but not enough, apparently, to get the implications when someone in another fandom altogether starts talking about yellow crayons. I can find enough online to give me a vague idea of the wheres and hows of this, but not enough to tell me what yellow crayons mean to fandom at large. (Well, probably there is plenty of info, but I'm lazy.) Can anyone help me out here?

Date: 2009-02-21 01:12 pm (UTC)I have not watched Dewey Cox! It's one of those movies I meant to see for a long time and then forgot all about. But I'm about to go out now, and I'm gonna see about finding a copy, and maybe by tonight I'll be able to give you a real answer.
I LOVE YOU TOO. And relatedly: I MISS YOU A LOT.

Date: 2009-02-22 04:58 pm (UTC)Someone who likes Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (http://www.avclub.com/articles/my-year-of-flops-the-bonus-tracks-case-file-112-wa,2358/) as much as I do. SPOILER WARNING: Do not read until you have seen the movie, because it spoils a lot of good jokes.

Date: 2009-02-23 01:53 pm (UTC)Our shared love for Dewey Cox aside: that was the best goddmaned review of anything I've read in a really long time. It is totally what all reviews should be.
Just tell all your friends that you love Cox and Balls and that you want to share your love with them. They certainly won't all look at you like you're insane or nothing.
