constanceI've been making a Christmas CD as office gifts for my coworkers. Since they're for the most part older than I am, and to a person infinitely more conservative than I am, I've been limiting myself to the more traditional parts of my Christmas music while choosing a playlist; and as an antidote I've been breaking by listening to the indie-type stuff.
At some point during one of these breaks, I realized that a lot of the indie-type stuff is kind of, well. It's a downer, is what, whether it's whiny my-baby-left-me or just fucked in the head (although some of it's so over-the-top, purposefully or not, that it kind of crosses back over into festive and fun again).
Generations X and Y have some issues to work through as regards the holiday season, it seems.
