The things I carry
Jul. 4th, 2008 05:23 pmHey, let's never go a month without speaking again, okay? With that in mind, the facts that I love you and want to see your smiling face more often, I mean, let us proceed to an actual entry. It's content-light, but if you love looking at other people's things as much as I do, it should at least be a little interesting.
First, the bag itself:

I love it a lot, except for the lack of a top close and the rounded bottom, the combination of which means that when you're driving inattentively (as I do), the contents of your purse go spilling into the footwell of your passenger seat on average of like twice a week. Still like it, though.
And here are the current contents. My purse is not always this tidy -- usually I'm approaching some sort of critical mass in receipts and lists -- but you didn't really want to see a bunch of wadded up paper, did you? I didn't think so.

- My wallet. When I'm carrying a smaller bag, I carry a smaller wallet (embarrassingly, I have like six of them in various sizes so that I can switch out), but for a bag this big, I get to carry EVERYTHING, just in case I am struck by the urge to get a haircut or donate blood while out. Hey, it happens.
- Glasses case. Contains both a spare pair of regular glasses, and a pair of prescription sunglasses. You can never be too careful; just ask
coco_palmolive, who once had to spend half a weekend trip sitting at Lenscrafters when I left my regular glasses sitting on the seat of my car at the Atlanta airport. - Gum and breath strips. I don't know who I'm expecting to kiss, but by God, I'll have fresh breath when I do it.
- Food journal. Today's take so far: turkey sandwich (3 pts), chips (4 pts), vegetable soup (2 pts), and 64 ounces of water (0 points, and not drunk all at once -- I was mowing the grass this morning). So far, 9 pts consumed. And, as it happens, 9 pts earned while mowing the lawn. I am good for an extravagant dinner, which I am totally planning on having. Shut up it is a holiday.
- Notebook. In case I ever need to write something down.
- Super-teeny mp3 player, because my iPod mostly stays at work. This one holds 2 GB and plays video, so it comes with me.
- Cell phone. Obviously.
- Keys. Some are mine, some aren't.
- Thumb drive. Current contents: The entire oeuvre of Rancid, a Big Bang story soundtrack that I liked the concept of but haven't gotten around to listening to yet, and the Big Bang story that the soundtrack goes to.
- Weight Watchers stuff: a points/activity counter, my monthly pass card, and my weekly progress card. I lose them if they don't stay together.
- Makeup kit: contains a Tide pen, a powder compact, an eyeshadow, a mascara, and about forty lip glosses in slight variations on the same color (that color being the natural color of my lips).
- One pen. One pencil.
- Hairbrush. I don't need it so much since my last haircut, because for some reason my hair actually stays tidy with this cut (no, I will never understand the physics of hair). I carry it anyway, though, because I know those circumstances could change at any minute.

And you should do a purse shoot! I love having permission to look in other people's stuff!
