Once more into the breach, dear friends.

I love this blog, you dig? It makes me sad when I go for long periods of time without updating, makes me feel awkward and tongue-tied in a way that usually only happens when I'm confronted with real live people. And God, I have no intention of letting my own ineptitude turn this into yet another place where I feel overwhelmingly, teeth-grindingly silenced.

With that in mind, I'm going to make another attempt getting back into a semi-regular groove, and since I mean to post, and since I've always meant to start posting photos more often in spite of my nonexistent skillz as a photo-type-thing-taking person, I figure that I'll combine the two things for now. I think what's gonna happen here is that when the urge strikes me (and also, let's be realistic about my recent posting history, when it doesn't), I'm going to post a photo of a little piece of my life and then maybe talk about it. I hope I'll talk about it.

We'll just see how far this gets us, shall we?

I picked these up a couple of weeks ago at a local pottery show, and I am deeply in love with them. They're by an Athens-based artist named Crisha Yantis. I loved everything she had on display, and wish I could've bought one of her bigger works, but I'm quite happy with my little plate and bowl.

I love those. They are so charming. They remind me of your old gerbera daisy layout which was one of the first clues I had to your melancholy, hopeful, whimsical sensibility.

{{{hugs}}} Post more!

(and those pics look lovely on your current layout : )

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2008-05-08 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
They do sort of go with my current layout, don't they? I am nothing if not consistent in my tastes. :D

*hugs* I love that old daisy layout. I really need to see if I can't make it work out in S2.

okay, those are supremely delightful. as are you! i am a big supporter of this 'semi-regular groove'. xoxooooo

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2008-05-08 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
semi-regular I think I might be able to manage again, since clearly the once-a-day is kicking my ass unless I am officially obligating myself. :*:*:*:*

[identity profile] amelia-eve.livejournal.com 2008-05-01 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, whimsy and charm and supporting local independent crafts people. Yay!

And I love reading you, even if you don't think it's interesting. Even if you don't want to post so often, you could comment more to get warmed up. (I am totally talking through my hat here, because I seldom post anything to comment on. I just carry on conversations in other people's LJ comments sections. But it's a start.)

Photo request? Have you got any nice spring flowers in your yard? I always love house pictures.

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2008-05-08 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I could comment more, couldn't I? I'm working on that; I used to have long, involved comment-conversations, but that doesn't happen so much these days, and I think it's probably my fault that it doesn't.

In fact, you asked a question the other day that I haven't managed to answer, and here is my answer: yeah, I'm still sticking to WW. (We'll just gloss over The Great Frito Spree of 2008, on last Saturday, shall we?) I've lost 50 pounds, still got some way to go, but I'm not missing that first 50 so much. How's it going for you?

Also: since we in the Deep South are sort of past the "spring flower" stage, and working on the "summer flower" stage, I don't know how springy the flowers I'm taking pictures of will be. But I'll give you flowers, oh yes I will.

[identity profile] amelia-eve.livejournal.com 2008-05-08 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I'm so glad to hear you are doing well with WW. I have basically got stuck after 50, but I've been maintaining that for six months now at least. I think I'm going to rest here a while before I plunge back into the program. My February attempt at living on 21 points was not pretty.

And yeah, there is something about Fritos. Nothing can substitute for them. I could probably just suck on salt tablets and get nearly the same effect, but echt Fritos have a real siren song, especially the BBQ kind.

I did get to enjoy the spring flowers when I was down there, and now I'm getting some of them again up here. It's nice to get double spring! I will happily accept any and all flowers. Now if only I could get some summer tomatoes. I have been getting good corn, at least.

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2008-05-08 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm kind of stuck at 50 too. I think I've started losing again this week, but that just means that after the Frito binge, I'll break even one more time.

God, Fritos, don't even get me started, I have one and the next thing you know I'm passed out on the floor with honey barbecue crumbs scattered all around, they're slapping me in junk food rehab, I'm hanging out at the Frito House on the corner. My favorite flavor is the honey bbq twists, but I'll eat any flavor and like it.

Oh! Those are so pretty! I love the celadon-y shade.

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2008-05-08 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I do, too. I love the visual texture of the glaze as well. They're deeply satisfying!

[identity profile] somniesperus.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Those are beautiful. They do seem very 'you' to me, which is a good thing!! Maybe because they make me think of the illustrations of Le Petit Prince?

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2008-05-08 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's one of my favorites, or did you know that already? They do remind me of St. Exupery, now that you mention it -- I'd been thinking Seuss, but I think your comparison's better.

I had a funny dream last night, and you were in it! We were playing an alternate version of the board game Life, where instead of careers and kids, you pick up drugs and prostitutes and such. The prostitutes' little pegs were all glittery, and you had way more of them than I did -- I was perpetually bankrupt and could never afford them. The dream ended before you could win, though.

[identity profile] somniesperus.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
So...like...I was headed for Eliot Spitzer Square or something? I WAS winning, right?

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, you were totally winning! You were rockin' the crack whores like you'd been doin' it all your life. :D

The FISH The FISH!!!

It's another fish in the sea. :) I haven't posted in months, or maybe it only feels like months, and I know how you mean. I just haven't got the energy, or something.

Plus I don't want to whine about my mom (who is loads better, but still living in my house!), and that's been all I've been doing for a long time.

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2008-05-08 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I'd love to see more posts from you, but I understand the impulse to curb the whining. And man, I can't imagine what kind of energy dealing with a mother in the house for extended periods of time would take -- but still, miss you.

[identity profile] proteinscollide.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
I am all for more posts from you, Cammy, and I love hearing about things from your daily life. *chinhands*

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2008-05-08 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
*hugs you tightly* oh, SQ.

[identity profile] luthien.livejournal.com 2008-05-02 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I like those!

I hope you keep posting more regularly. I always like seeing you on my friends page. It's hard when you get out of the habit, I know. I'm currently trying to get back into the swing of making proper posts again, too.

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2008-05-08 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
It is hard! I'm glad to hear you're making an effort too -- I miss seeing your Rosetti-face around, and I hope you're doing okay.

Hihi!

I like the pottery, but I like you better.

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2008-05-08 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
*flutters eyelashes beguilingly*

GOOD.

[identity profile] laurelwood.livejournal.com 2008-05-04 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh, I covet that plate and bowl! The flowers are just perfect, and I love the expression on the fish's face. Was it hard to choose something, or did these two pieces just jump out at you?

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2008-05-08 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
It was very hard to choose something! There was so much to choose from, even in my bottom-tier price range. I narrowed it down to these or a little box with a bird on the lid (and another flower inside), but I was also tempted by some cups...

I'll just have to buy more, I guess.

[identity profile] octoberstory.livejournal.com 2008-05-07 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Look at the fishie! :O

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2008-05-08 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I KNOW. HE IS IRRESISTIBLE.

♥♥♥♥

Kid, I tell you, my cell phone. I didn't get your message till the other night, and now I'm just purely embarrassed to call you. :/ I'm so sorry. When's a good time for me to try again?

[identity profile] octoberstory.livejournal.com 2008-05-09 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometime tomorrow maybe?? Not too late, though, I have to open the store Sun. A.M. ♥ Please don't be embarrassed, I have phone avoidance too. I understand.
