...Or maybe it's just me.

Yeah, this is the sort of thing I think about during the quiet times, I admit it.

  1. flying buttress

  2. rammed earth

  3. ballflower

  4. infilling

  5. phylactery

Two geological terms that likewise sound surprisingly dirty when taken out of context:

1. cleavage (this is an old, old joke)

2. schist

(My Volvox, let me show you it.)

No, they sound pretty dirty to me. Who knew architecture was so raunchy? =)

...

It makes me think of one of my favourite quotes from one of my favourite movies, Edward Norton's Keeping the Faith: "So this is the rectory. Sounds like a dirty word: 'rec-toryyyy'."

:O I DO LOVE IT. LOVE IT. I'm embarrassed to say I'd already noticed a lot of the prop reuse (and some things that they've reused in other sets, houses and such), because I spend quite a lot of time on those motel rooms. But so many great hotels since the post, too! My all-time favorite has got to be the one in DaLDoM, with the bird theme and the escher divider. Perfectly, perfectly trippy -- just right.

Oh yes, the Dream set was fabulous and I loved how they used it in Dean's nightmare.

One of my favourites is the sleazy sex motel in Houses of the Holy. The one with the bunny girl picture and vibrating bed :D.

On topic (a bit): I am about to get a new laptop so I'll *finally* be able to upgrade to The Sims 2. I am so excited about building new houses! Have I ever told you how I surf random real estate sites and print off their floor plans to replicate in my Sims games??

From: [identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com
Oh my God, Dahlia, you will love building houses (and characters too!) in Sims 2. There are so many superfab downloads (although there are some Sims things I miss very much), and the tools are more flexible.

I do that, too, with the house plans! And I've made replicas of houses I know as well.

Come to think of it. I'm not completely sure I've ever played a full game; I just get so happy creating stuff that I pretty much don't ever stop.

The game has arrived but not the computer :/ (I'm waiting for it to come back in stock at John Lewis, because they give you an extra year's guarantee.) I've been reading the game manual on the tube to work and it sounds amazing. I am especially excited about the extra floor and the dormer roof thing and the basement options.

Also! Yesterday I spent a while making some new icons, and when I'd finished, I realized that I'd made one from almost exactly the same screencap of Dean's profile in the Impala as the one you have! :O

It is iconic, though, that profile shot. If you'll pardon the pun.

Where is this icon! Let me see it so we can compare!!

You are so clever to make your own icons. I just scan icon posts, leave fulsome praise and promise to credit. My quest to find a bitchy Sam icon has so far failed, however. It's all either smiley Jared or wistful Sam out there.

Unfortunately, I can't show you my icons right away -- I had to send back the memory on my new PC and I forgot to upload the icons before I did it -- but as soon as I get the replacement modules, I'll show you. Mine's a little bit different from yours, the lighting's different because I fiddled with it, but the screencap I took is almost exactly the same.

May I make you a bitchface icon? Do you have a particular moment you want me to cap? I am lately fond of the face Sam makes after Dean says to Henricksen, "But you didn't shoot the deputy!" in Jus in Bello. But hey, there's basically a whole episode of bitchfaces in Tall Tales, and any number of others!

My Sam icon that I made (I'll show you that one too, when I can) is his thousand-yard stare from Mystery Spot. The Dean one is Demon Dean, snapping at the very end of Dream. And then there's one from Fresh Blood where Sam's working on the Impala while Dean drinks a beer. ♥

Oh OK, I will just have to remain in suspense then :S. I really hope the iPhoto tool on the new mac will be more icon friendly.

But T, sweetie, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE you to make me a bitchface icon! The one from Jus In Bello would be good because I seem to remember he tilts his head upwards to Dean in horror, which would make a good icon. But if I could have *any* bitchface... well, I think my all-time favourite is the one in Playthings just after Dean tells the hotel-owner how much his brother loves collecting dolls :D:D:D.

Up to now I've mostly snagged Impala icons from people's posts. That car looks fab from any angle, in any light, I reckon: http://www.livejournal.com/allpics.bml?user=dahlia_777

Well here's one from Playthings, then. There were actually several to choose just from that one tiny ten-second scene, but this one was funniest, I thought.

Haha - that is a really cute and funny pic and I am definitely taking it. I have to admit I'm thinking more of that point where he slits his eyes and thrusts his jaw out and full-on *glares* at Dean though, in a like "I hate you for this, you are the MOST ANNOYING brother ever, (even if I love you really)" kind of way. It's not an attractive look on him, but it is hilarious. Hmm, you know what T, this is a great excuse for me to watch Playthings again so I can describe it better. Sadly I'm off to work shortly - got to work all over Easter :/ - but I will hopefully look at the ep tomorrow.

Ok I "reviewed" (:D) Playthings this morning and the moment I love best is right at the end of the scene when he's going into the room and turns back to glare at Dean. The back of Dean's head is in the shot but that actually works because you know who he's cross with.

Have you been following the Anton Nosik of LJ kerfuffle? Most of it can be found here (http://darkrosetiger.livejournal.com/) including a translation of his interview. Such breathtaking contempt for lj users, I could not believe it! When the new computer arrives (Wednesday!) I'm going to see if I can go one step further and export all my old lj entries to my back-up iJ account. I want to be prepared in case the worst happens.

Ooh, I know the look! I almost made that one for you -- but I was afraid the quality of the DL I have might not do it justice! I'll see what I can do and get back to you!

I've been following. The idea of moving to another venue -- especially IJ, which I'm desperately unfond of -- makes me tired, but more and more this new LJ order is making me wary. I hope I don't have to move, because the things I love about LJ are all things I love VERY MUCH INDEED (even if the bad things are getting closer to out weighing the good), but if I do, it probably won't be to IJ.

THAT IS PERFECT! Exactly what I've been looking for. I'm so sick of seeing endless grinning Jared icons linked on the newsletter and no decent Sam. Do people not get why he's so awesome?

I love yours too. The light in them is fab, especially in the driving one.

Also, someone on my flist linked to this: http://www.danradcliffe.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=641&Itemid=1

Did you have any idea they were planning to turn HBP into a cross between Dawson's Creek and High School Musical? (OK, without the music.)

I lightened it up a little -- and I'm also spending the day mostly in, because the weather's lousy and I'm feeling crampy -- so if you're in...

Yes. *Beams*. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The only other non-spoilery thing I have to say is I LOVE Dr Baltur.
