Beautiful Day
Feb. 14th, 2008 01:02 pmI've been saving up little things to tell you, saving up in manner of picking lint off a sweater or starting a bottle-cap collection, but today I don't really feel like telling them all to you, I feel like hoarding them even though (like lint or bottle caps) they're not particularly interesting or important to anyone but me. Instead, I feel today like telling you about the most awesomely, extravagantly wonderful lunch I've had in a while, wherein I had a work-related errand to run and was going to just go straight back to the office and eat my beans and rice but somehow, I'm not quite sure how it happened, I ended up skipping actual eating in favor of driving around my little city singing along to the CD in my player (which if you're interested was Blondie and early Bowie and The Pretenders) at the top of my lungs.
It was too cold to roll the windows down, but it felt like that sort of day anyway, the kind of blindingly bright day where you can't keep the stupid smile off your face, and the wind against your bare arms kind of electrifies you so that when the car stops you think you might just keep moving if you weren't strapped to your seat because the laws of physics seem to be on a brief hiatus, the sort of day that when you smile at people at the stop lights, they smile back like they really mean it, like you've accidentally made each other's days exponentially better just in that one second of communication. The kind of day where you can't really concentrate because you're so dazzled by everything, so in love with everyone. Or maybe you don't have days like that, maybe it's just me, but I really hope you do have days like today.
Either way. Happy Valentine's Day, my dearest ones. I am so in love with you. I would marry you if I could.

Date: 2008-02-24 02:47 pm (UTC)This is a b-stage production, which means we're putting it on minimally--little setwork, no costumes (probably) besides blacks, possibly more like staged readings. One night for each show. SO, Oedipus Rex=Apr 4/Oedipus @ Colonus=Apr 5/Antigone=Apr 6. That's it. I'm in O@C and Antigone. There'll be a lot of rehearsal nights, but overall far less stress than Virginia Woolf. I'll keep you updated in letters. <3
Are you busy? Your LJ has been slightly entry-light lately. Not that I am complaining, just wondering. And have you been to Pam's yet???????

Date: 2008-02-27 09:54 pm (UTC)Yeah, I went a couple of weeks ago, which is one reason why my lj's been dry lately. And then last weekend I was in Dallas visiting my brother, and in between, I've been fighting my new computer, which I'm going to have to ship bits of it back. >:O
I'm fine though! And desperately sorry I won't be able to see you play Antigone.
Actually. I am so sorry that I am currently looking at plane tickets. Would you maybe be up for a visitor on Friday and Saturday nights? I know you'll be busy, but I'd entertain myself, and if you won't be up for guests, I'll get a hotel. I just really want to come see you strut (or wail and beat your breast to the sounds of a Greek Chorus, anyway), kid.

Date: 2008-02-27 10:17 pm (UTC)We just got the scripts and I have to tell you, though, it's a plain prose translation updated for present day. No chitons, no strophes or antistrophes or any of that good shit. That plus the low production level (staged readings are literal, I mean we really might have the books in our hands still) makes me think you shouldn't go to the trouble for this show. It's not bad, it's just... not verse. *grabs hand* But I want you to visit if we can work it out! Shall we do it when I'm in a full-scale show you'd want to see? I would so so so love to have you, and never mind that business about a hotel, and you'd better believe I'd take off work too! >:O Also, plane fares can be so cripplingly expensive. I wouldn't consider it if you couldn't find a good deal. I only wish I could afford to send you a ticket like Pam did. Or buy myself one to get down to Macon.
Oh, and that is jive about your new computer! >:O >:O Computer problems are almost as hateful as car problems. World, why will you not work.
