New car, caviar, four-star daydream.
Feb. 1st, 2008 08:52 amI've been meaning to write, but now that I've become suddenly and unexpectedly rich (THANK YOU EBAY OMG), I haven't been able to work on anything more taxing than converting my new paypal virtual money into actual dollar bills so I can roll around naked in them, sorry about that.
And I had already decided to buy a new DIY-style computer with my funds, whatever they turned out to be, because, well, I'm such a geek. And since it's turning out that I can afford something much nicer than I'd originally been planning to get, any time not spent rolling around in dollar bills or otherwise gloating over my newpaid wealth has been spent configuring my wishlist on newegg, and then reconfiguring and reconfiguring again. Fingerprint recognition system? Tiny form factor? Yeah, baby, YEAH! Or wait, maybe the multifunction card reader instead! Or an extra hard disk! I may never actually get the money spent because this part is so much fun that I'm reluctant to commit myself and lose the pleasure of anticipation, the seduction of working up to making a choice.
And God. Looking back at those two paragraphs, I think it's probably for the best that in general I have not been blessed with profound riches nor a talent for earning them. Also that I don't have much else that I can sell on ebay.

Date: 2008-02-01 06:33 pm (UTC)Once I get everything sorted out, I'll be happy to whisper sweet nothings about IDE v. SATA, and the erotic possibilities of overclocking. Honestly, I find it all pretty sexy too. :D

By the way, you may tell Brooke that she's right about the teen years not being a vale of tears for a full decade. I used the word for maximum effect, but really, I found that life suddenly got immeasurably easier for me (and therefore for everyone in my whole family) once high school was over. So really it's more like six years or so that the V of T is fully operational.

Date: 2008-02-01 06:57 pm (UTC)I sold a lot of video games, and made some money off that, and then my old flatware, which was a little too ornate for my tastes, but which turned out to be surprisingly collectible, who knew? I've been thinking about other stuff I might sell, but really after the flatware things might be a little anticlimactic.

Date: 2008-02-01 07:31 pm (UTC)Brooke will be jubilant to hear that she was right about the VoT not lasting a full decade. The getting-easier-after-high-school seems to be the rule of thumb for most people, except for those who have a thrilling, fabulous high school career and then find college a letdown, but at least they're not around to inflict that angst on their parents!
And yes, it is a new icon! I generally don't go in for photos-of-celebrities-as-icons, but I couldn't resist that picture.
Excellent post title, by the way.
