constance: (And the book says...)

  • So. Full. Of hummous and shwarma. I can hardly sit up straight. Unfortunately, I consider this a good thing, and that is why I am a piss-poor dieter.

  • Am reading House of Leaves right now, my interest in it having been piqued by [livejournal.com profile] redkisskate, and I cannot say with any certitude that I love it. I cannot say, even, that I like it, especially. What I can say is that I cannot seem to stop reading it. It is a bit of a mess, but it is a mess to obsess over, to bite my nails over, to be totally freaked out by. It fascinates me to the point that I am reluctant to stop reading to go to bed, to the point where I kind of want to call in sick to keep reading. And this makes me think: what more can one ask from a book? Beauty of language, fine storytelling, compelling plot: these are objective things, and I love reading books that contain them. But in the end, it's the subjective that makes a book memorable, for me.

Will possibly overintellectualize later on why this book has this strange hold over me. But for now: *_*

  • Today a man came into the office where I was working. He was friends with several of the office staff, and was complaining about how he's always getting hit on by gay men. If I weren't opposed to making personal comments to people I hardly know, I'd have told him that if he didn't want to be hit on by gay men, he totally ought to stop dressing like a stereotypical gay man's wet dream. Tall, extremely fit, handsome, with hair shorn very close to the scalp but not completely shaved, tight jeans, tight t-shirt with the sleeves rolled just a bit. I mean, just looking at him, my gaydar went off the charts, and man, I would have said before today I don't even have gaydar. Of course gay men try to pick him up. I would, if I were a gay man.

  • I got upgraded again, at my hotel, this time to one of those mini-suite thingies. I now have a kitchenette and a little living room with a sofa and armchair for the week. And where am I sitting? In bed. Where did I sit last night before bedtime? In bed.

  • Dream last night: I was a nanny to Britney Spears' new baby. More than that, I do not think I need to say.

  • I miss my dog.

  • I miss my lj friends. I hope you are doing well.

The thing I came away with, after watching the trailer, like, four times in a row, is that I no feel for what what the movie will be like! I agree with you about the montage, and I think the special effects look actually well-done for the first time, and yeah, everyone looks terrific (though what is up with dumbledore's beard-ponytail?). Rupert's hair looks good, Emma looks great but a little thin (I want to fed her some nice buttered toast), and I think Daniel would look better without all the gunk in his hair, but so far, I like PoA-Harry best, looks-wise.

But again, for the first time viewing an HP trailer, I just have no idea what to expect from the actual film. It could go either way, you know? Considering the director, I mean.
