More songs about buildings and food
Nov. 4th, 2007 12:08 pmCable television can be a bad thing. I live in a quiet house; my own television gets turned on only a few hours a week, and that's usually just to watch DVDs while I'm working on the weekends. Here at my parents' house, though, the TV's on when I'm here, usually turned on to either some crime show or HGTV, which are both like crack, delicious, delicious crack, for me.
Unlike crack, though, they're inspiring, too! Why, just last night, I killed a beautiful college student by tying her up and suffocating her with her own panties! And HGTV, man. I adore design magazines, get three or four of them delivered to my home, and HGTV is like having a design magazine delivered to my house, like, every hour on the hour. It's a wonder I ever get anything done, to be perfectly honest. I'll be bopping along with a load of laundry, tripping over three dogs who must lead the way but don't know exactly where I'm going so keep turning around to make sure I'm still with them, thus causing a big pileup every ten steps or so, and suddenly I hear the words Craftsman restoration and the next thing I know it's an hour later and my arms are starting to ache from the laundry and my eyes are aching from the unblinking vacant stare I've trained at the TV. And I'm not even mentioning the drool, because I am polite that way.
(Case in point: it's taken me about half an hour to write what I've written so far because "My House is Worth What?" is on.)
Time spent at my parents' house in an HGTV trance always sends me back home all fired up to work on my own house, though, so that's a good thing, right? I've inherited some furniture from my grandmother, I've got to make space for it, and that only inspires me more, and I'm eager to get back to my house and get started.
I only hope the high lasts until I get home.

On top of the renovation plans, it is pomegranate season, too! They were out when I went to the grocery this morning. The day is just getting better and better.

I'd love to see pictures of your new-to-you furniture if you feel like it. It's always fun to see how artfully new things are incorporated into the existing look.

Date: 2007-11-05 08:36 pm (UTC)In general, I'm the biggest sucker for the programs that show you how to work things out on a very tight budget, I wonder why? :D
My beloved Flannery would always wait a little while before following me. She'd eventually find me after a few minutes, but her MO on following was more or less "is this trip going to be worth my while? Because if she's gonna be back in two minutes I might as well just keep lying on the sofa." Leory and my parents' dogs are definitely more like Phoebe than Flannery.
And I'll try to remember to get out my camera! I've been meaning to bring it over to my parents' to take some pictures, since it strikes me that one easy way to get through this post-a-day thing is to post lots of pictures, but I haven't managed it just yet.
