I've been tagged by
amelia_eve to tell you all seven random facts about myself, and though I expect that my habit of regularly leaving the most personal bits of my life on your doorstep like a cat who's just caught a baby bird and ONLY WANTS TO SHARE means that it might not be possible to tell you things you've never heard about me before, still, I'll do my best.
- I am ridiculously, inexcusably in love with Law and Order, especially with anything featuring Jerry Orbach and Christopher Meloni, but it's not just about the crushes. I just love police procedurals, and though I wouldn't actually recommend the series to anyone, I cannot pass up the chance to watch them myself. (Only in syndication, though.) If I had cable television, I would never get anything done.
I am at my parents' house right now, house-sitting for the weekend while they're out of town (it's a trial run to make sure the dogs get along before they go on their 40th anniversary trip in October), and I've been here for three hours and am just through my third episode. It goes without saying that they do have cable. Yeah. - I hardly ever think to wear my nose-ring any more. In public, that is; I do wear it religiously every single night. Way to proudly display that long-time-dream-realized, Cam.
- I could easily be a vegetarian if it weren't for chicken. I love chicken, and I am ashamed of it. One day I hope to wake up with an aversion to it, and then I can move on and forget.
- Because I am nine years old, I find the fact that our estimating software uses the file extension .pee endlessly amusing. I delight in it every time I navigate our estimate folders. IT NEVER GETS OLD I TELL YOU.
- I read an article in a magazine about a landscape architect who, when he ran out of space to landscape on his own office property, annexed his willing neighbor's yard for further showcasing. This is my current dream. To be the neighbor, I mean.
- I've always wished, through the years, that I had a real world-class talent. Not things that I'm proficient at, or that I have a knack for, just one thing that set me seriously apart, whether the rest of the world knew it or not. (Aside from my clumsiness, though I think
laurelwood is setting herself to challenge my claim to World's Clumsiest Person.) And I'm thirty-eight now, and it's not going to happen, but I don't think I'll ever stop wishing for it. - I'm a southerner, but I hate summer, hate it. It makes me cranky for months on end. And every year, as autumn approaches, I feel a loosening in my chest. At the first hint of chill in the air, I breathe a little easier. The first time I can sleep with my windows open, I am a happy, happy girl.
We're not there yet -- it's Georgia, after all -- but we're getting close, and I am already feeling better.
Custom dictates that I tag a few people for this one. How about new friends, people I don't know very well yet but want to:
