A parliament of robins

This afternoon I arrived home to the discovery that I was all-unknowingly hosting a robin convention. It was so deeply cool! There were robins everywhere, on the grass, in the driveway, in the trees, just hundreds and hundreds of them. I hope they're not heading back north for spring -- if they are, they're in for a nasty shock -- but wherever they're headed, I'm glad they decided to stop by.

Days like today remind me that I never have gotten around to carrying my camera around with me 24/7, the way I intended to carry it when I got it. Some days, you just need to take a picture. Because how else will you remember how delighted you were to come home to a yardful of robins?

It'd be cool if they were actually having a witty discussion about which boy robin one of the girl robins should marry. :)

They were probably just trying to decide where to go for dinner. They had that grumpy, indecisive look about them.

I told the girls about the parliament of robins and we're all deeply envious. I wonder what sort of convention they were in town for!

Academic, maybe! Maybe my yard was the meeting-room hosting the insanely popular panel "Spring Has Sprung: Mediating Through Outreach Services for Seasonal Avian Harbingers."
