  1. There are two kinds of people in the world: them that can make omelets and them that can't. I've always been one of the latter; but I'm happy to report that as of this past week I've suddenly and inexplicably crossed over. I don't know why this new understanding of the magical art of omelet-making, and I'm not sure I ought to question it; and in celebration, I've made about four omelets this week. This morning's was mushroom, onion, and cheddar cheese, and it was tasty, but it was also pretty. I'm not sure I'll ever stop being surprised that I can now fold eggs up and slide them off the pan in perfect condition.

  2. I have a new car, or rather, when my car unexpectedly breathed its last on Friday night, my parents bought a new car which I will be driving and contributing payments as I can afford them until I can take over the payments completely. Do I sound like an ungrateful daughter when I say that this situation has made me surprisingly unhappy? I'm not ungrateful, though, I promise. I know how lucky I am to have parents who can not only afford to chip in when I'm in difficulties, but who do so willingly and (mostly) without complaint. But I hate asking people for things -- this is territory I've covered recently in another context -- and I especially don't like that at my age I am sometimes still forced to accept financial aid from my folks. It sends me spinning.

And I adored my old car, which was an aging Saturn. But my new one is also a Saturn, which is some comfort, and misery-making weekend or no, it's a pretty nice car, and incidentally the only one I've ever had which wasn't grey, white, silver-blue, or beige-y. Well, there was one black one, too, I forgot, but this is an actual color! Cypress green, they call it, which is a dark metallic blue-green.

  3. My heater is out. It is at times like these I'm glad I never quite got around to getting rid of my portable space heaters.

That omelet comment cracked me up. It is so true. Hee.

Also, my aging Saturn is currently in the shop. *kicks it*

I'm actually in the No Woman's Land of Faux Omelet Making (i.e., they fall apart in the pan, but I can flip them over, plate-to-plate, and they end up looking pretty *g*)

What catastrophic event struck your car?! Last time I saw it (admittedly a year ago), it seemed pretty healthy. :( And what model is this new one, other than green?

Sorry too about the heater, which must be unbearable. It's a pretty cold weekend (it is 10 here and lightly snowing; I hope you are better off than that). I hope it is a minor complaint.

I am in complete agreement with you on point no. 2. As for point no. 1, I have never made an omelet in my life, and likely never will--I am one of those rare creatures who gags even at the smell of cooking eggs.
