My lovely friend [livejournal.com profile] coco_palmolive, kindly breaking an internet-long self-imposed email forwarding ban, sent me some photos of paper art several weeks ago, just because she knew I'd like them. And I've been meaning to upload them to share ever since, but have kept forgetting.

Click on the images to see them in a larger size. eta: I did a little research and discovered that they're by Peter Callesen. His site is definitely worth the click. :)

Wow! I am impressed! I love the avalanche and the canoeing and the hanging and skeleton 2 the best, but I love all of them!

the large-scale stuff on his website is SO COOL, but the smaller things are even more amazing; so intricate! i am ridiculously impressed.

These are totally mesmerizing. I can't even begin to contemplate the x-acto skills that go into even the simplest-looking of them.

Even before I opened the cut, I felt you might be talking about Callesen. He is indeed the awesomest and I have not seen some of those, so thank you so much for this post. I love this one:

Aren't they? They make happy whenever I come back to look at them. Which, I have to admit, is often.

I'm not sure I evven have a favorite. I'll think it's the one I'm currently looking at, and then I see the next one and change my mind.

I can't imagine the patience and skill it takes to make that smaller stuff. I love them the most, too, I think. :)

Oh, I like that one too! Have you seen any of them in person, by any chance? I would love to, wouldn't you? They must be so much more satisfying in person.

I love the paper cuts. The performance art is.... well.... I guess I've never liked performance art. I prefer plays.

I haven't, but I agree: it would be amazing to see all that in scale and full detail. Will be on the lookout!

I keep going back to look again. It's like the crack of the art world.
