Now I can't sleep all day

I got a parking ticket today, parked outside my own house. I mean, yes, I was breaking the law, though I didn't realize that having two wheels up on the edge of the sidewalk was illegal here. But! A ticket! Outside my own house! From a police force which doesn't bother to ticket speeding in school zones! O, the humanity, man.

At least I wasn't the only one on my street to get one, though; the whole length of it, you can see soggy strips of yellow carbonless paper stuck under people's windshield wipers. And there's something else, too, that makes me not care so deeply about my parking ticket which I will pay immediately because I do not want to spend another night in prison ever again, and that thing is that I HAVE A JOB. I got called for an interview from my new best friend Tori this morning, went into the office this afternoon, talked to them for 45 minutes, and within a half hour after my return home, they'd made an offer. I start Monday, can you believe it? I HAVE A JOB. Let me say it again, in case you've forgotten: I HAVE A JOB.

I was going to write you! I thought you were swamped and did not want to distract you! I hope this means you get a little time tonight to relax!

I am looking forward to telling you all about it in detail so exhausting you will regret having ever allowed me that freedom. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

And Jen S! She gets the best jobs -- I take it Apple was not the wondrous experience she was hoping it would be, or was it only ever supposed to be temporary?

I had to bring work home, but I briefly caught a glimpse of the light at the end of the Medicare tunnel. Please feel free to share as many details as possible! I will read avidly, even if I don't respond immediately.

Jen loves Apple ridiculously but she can't survive on PT hours, which is what they're giving her right now. She's also been working PT at her sucky old designer job to keep her benefits. She can finally quit the job she hates. She always says that her goal is to work for companies whose products she loves. Now she has accomplished it twice over. I am trying not to hate her for it.

Yeah, man, I am pretty envious of Jen as well. Someone on my fl posted a poll the other day, and one of the questions was, Do you need to believe in the overall vision - for want of a better word - of a company to work there? Several of us agreed that much as we'd like to answer that question Yes, it was pretty much a luxury-type consideration when it came to writing the checks for the mortgage.

And I will write to you!
