Boring dog post #249

Tonight I made myself a chicken salad sandwich for dinner, and forgot to put the bread away when I took my plate to my desk, and this omission meant that two bites after I sat down, Leory came trotting happily into the study with the bread bag in his mouth. And I fussed and took the bread away, brought it back to the kitchen, and came back to my desk to realize that he'd taken advantage of my abandonment of the aforementioned sandwich by stealing the top piece of bread. And it was then that I realized that the loaf of bread was likely just a diversionary tactic, and I relearned a lesson I learned long ago as a nanny, which is that it is hard work trying to reprove when what you really want to do is giggle.

People of livejournal: I have been had. By a dog.

Image!!!!!!!!!!!! Impressed that he didn't actually steal the whole sandwich. My stepdad has lost countless pies to his border collie.

We totally made the same comment to Cammy. Weird! :O

Is Cammy the only person you comment these days to, huh? Image

Well, I'm sure he would gladly have finished the whole sandwich if I'd been gone from the room for longer than 10 seconds! :O

hahahahaha! *points and laughs at you* ahahahahaaaaaa!

No, just kidding. Actually, I'm surprised he contented himself with just that piece of bread, when there was so much yummy-smelling meat to be had. It shows admirable restraint when you think about it. Good boy, Leory!

Like I said to Mem, Leory just didn't have enough time to eat more than that top piece. IT IS NOT HIS FAULT THAT HE DID NOT GET THE WHOLE SANDWICH. >:O

I've made a promise to adore anything Leory does, and I'm going to stand by it.

I have to admit that I thought it was more funny than not. I'm a little bit pleased at his ingenuity, even if it was at my expense.

Yay for clever Leory! Were you really a nanny? I can certainly relate to the "reprove when what you really want to do is giggle"- both my sister and I have had to excuse ourselves mid-scold and go laugh our butts off in another room. (We always want to laugh during kiddie tantrums, too, which luckily dogs don't indulge in, although they can sulk like the dickens)

Woohoo- I got the coolest mail today! The mailman brought it right in the middle of an endless telephone conversation, so I couldn't even read the note properly till I'd hung up, but you'll be happy to know that you were right in assuming that I'd understand immediately how to use the contents. I had such a blast coming up with ever-snarlier facial configurations while the person on the other end of the phone droned on. I don't think the eyes came out too light at all; it all looks great. The girls were delighted, too; we had fun coming up with "fanon" and "canon" Snapes, and discovered that some of the mouths look even better upside down. (Crookeder teeth!)

Thank you so much for making my Saturday! I have a SnapeGram for you, too, which, curiously enough, has a somewhat similar theme, but it's running a tiny bit late. (And what are the chances that we'd get each other? <lj user="aubrem" says that it was total chance!) So cool!!!!!

I really was a nanny, throughout college. For one family with one baby boy, and another with (when I started) four children under the age of five. And the second boy in this Large Family, in particular, brought on many laughing/frustration fits, I have to say. Looking back, it seems as though I had to leave the room to laugh my ass off and/or punch something inanimate at least once a day, with B.

And I'm so glad you got the Snape-O-Matic and had fun with it! I can't wait to get yours! :D:D:D:D:D

hi, you! you sent a snape postcard to oakland, yeah? (am trying to make sure. there are two lj names on here with v. different userinfos and it's very confusing for a girl to say thank you properly)

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2006-07-19 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I did, I did! I take it that it arrived safely??

(And both ljs are me -- I included both because even though this is the one I update most now, it's essentially non-fandom.)

arrived safely! and gosh, if there was someone out there who would appreciate the thought and work and lovely bizarreness of that postcard, it'd be me. there's a word for that but my brain's fried right now, so, thanks so so much!

WOOHOO! I'm so glad you liked it! :D:D:D:D:D

My dog is quite a character! :D We're still getting to know each other, too, so my lj has been sort of full of dog stories for the past couple of months.
