It stops by itself!
My hair's longer right now than it has been for the past sixteen years or so, years I've spent alternating between pixie haircuts and short bobs, usually (because I'm well-organized this way) the short-short haircuts in winter and the longer cuts in summer. Today, for the first time in who-knows-how-long, I was able to scrape all of it back into a ponytail! No little tufts too short to be pulled all the way back! Granted, the ponytail is only two inches long, but hey, whatta ya want from me? It's a very exciting time for me, the era of the growing of the hair.
So of course all I can think of is cutting it short. Mmm, spiky little pixie cut! For once, during the summer months when the practical people get their hair cut off! The idea is so tempting I can hardly stand it. But! At the same time! Longer hair! And it doesn't even look as terrible as my growing-out hair has in the past!
So what do you think? Cut it all off, or let it keep growing?

Of course, for my big event tomorrow I am simply smooshing a fancy hat on top of it, but I love any excuse to wear a fancy hat anyway. Then who's thinking about my limp hair underneath anyway?

I totally understand the siren's call of the spiky pixie cut- it's all I had, except for a couple of ill-fated grow-out attempts, from college till about 4 years ago. It's longish now, and I have frequent and powerful yearnings to cut it all off so that I don't have to feel it moving around and getting in my way and just being a heavy presence on my head. But then it'll get itself into a docile, comely mood, or it'll be one of those 4 minutes a day I'm unclothed enough for it to do that nice-feeling tickle between my shoulder blades, and I'll be glad I let it grow. But man, if I couldn't skin it back into a ponytail or a hideous granny bun, there'd be no way I'd have survived this long.

Grow it out! You can always cut it later!

My god, it's like being back in primary school. You can't have the skipping rope though!
