(1) Jimmy Carter, circa 2015.
(2) Sam Shepherd + good-ole-boy accent + 30 pounds
(3) The bastard love child of a six-foot Paul Weller and Ulysses Everett McGill from O Brother, Where Art Thou? who looks like Paul and talks like Ulysses. Cadences, timbre, usage, everything.
These are the three men who've been teaching my seminar. Against all better judgment, I am entirely enamored of (3). So is my coworker S. who's also attending the classes; we spent all afternoon gazing at him enraptured as he spoke of the legal ramifications of incorrect tax computation and smothering giggles every time he uttered a sentence over fifty words in length. At one point, I leaned over and scribbled on S's tablet, like a teenager, Oh my God. And she wrote back, I KNOW.
Sometimes it's just nice to be sitting next to someone who understands.
