It all started when I decided to clean out my car properly this morning, with, like, Armor-All and everything, and I walked out to the driveway at around noon with equipment in hand. At first, I just thought, funny, I don't remember my car being that messy, and then I realized that my car had been broken into overnight and everything that had been in the glove box and the arm rest had been dumped onto the seats, and then I remembered that in the armrest had been a debit card that I'd tucked in when I activated its replacement (I'd meant to get it inside and cut it up, but it had sat for two days without actually making it inside, and would probably have sat longer if, you know, it hadn't been STOLEN OMG OMG OMG) and I ran back inside and called my bank and they told me that as soon as I'd activated the replacement card the old card had been deactivated. Okay, then, I said, and then celebrated by throwing up with relief, and then went back outside to clean up and take stock.

It was partly my fault, of course--I often stupidly forget to lock my car doors--and it must have been some kids who did it and just took off as soon as they found my card, or people who were looking only for money, because the only other thing missing was the change in the armrest, probably about $5 worth. The only CDs in the car were CDs other people have made for me (SHOUTOUT ESPECIALLY TO MEM THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU I GOT THEM YESTERDAY :D:D:D:D:D) and which I love, but which have no monetary value. Other than that, nothing else was missing, and if they'd been smarter they'd have gotten a lot more than five bucks and a useless debit card. I mean, here's what they could have got elsewise: a Sony boom box and a big tool box (in the trunk, which they apparently didn't open), a car (thanks to the valet key sitting in the glove box), an identity (two BN check stubs sitting on the passenger seat, complete with SSN).

I cleaned up, took out everything that should've come out before, and thanked my lucky stars that I lost so little. And all day as I've run my errands, I've been extremely careful to lock my doors. I'll forget again, and probably soon, but for now I'm checking the seats when I get out, I'm careful to take anything with me that I wouldn't want to lose for good.

Oh Cammy! Those fuckers. You have been lucky to not lose more, but it still sucks completely and utterly. *cuddles you lots*

*HUGS* Oh, gah! How awful! I'm glad they didn't take anything but the cash and a useless debit card. Fucking assholes. *hugs again*

Oh, Cam! That sucks so hard.

You know, just in case, you might want to contact Equifax and have them put a security hold on your credit report, just in case they did manage to get some little scrap of your identity. It's free, and it'll just give you some extra peace of mind. With you contemplating buying a house, better just to make sure that your credit rating is as sparkling as it should rightfully be.

I'm glad they didn't get more, but I'm sorry they made a mess of your car and violated your property. *shudders* And I'm glad you're not like me, and keep your ipod sitting under the emergency brake 24/7.

And I'm glad they didn't steal your car, man. Phew.

*hugs and hugs*

Oh man, that is totally a shitty way to start your day. I'm glad they didn't get anything of more significant value, though AHHHH THE INVASTION OF PRIVACY. That alone would make me want to punch a bitch.

Perhaps I should come down there and stay with you, for safety reasons. I would not hesitate to uppercut any punkass who tried to mess with my girl.

I almost threw up with relief myself when you got to the part about the card being deactivated. Argggh, I hate car burglars! I'm so glad nothing else was hurt or stolen, especially identity-related stuff. (WHY must they put SSN#s on everything?)

There must be some kind of Thug Activity Schedule out there that we don't know about; Dennis's car was broken into last night as well (for the 4th time). This time he was lucky; usually when the thieves discover just how empty his glove compartment is and how craptastic his stereo system (it's an antediluvian radio that broke in the "on" position and now can't be adjusted for additional stations, volume, or "off") they do some minor form of vandalism out of frustration. These creeps just took off without even scattering Dennis's ashtray full of gum wrappers!

Oh my gosh! >:O

I guess one should never be surprised at how low assholes will stoop, but still! >:O!

I am glad you lost so little, but still enraged on your behalf. >:O

Oh gosh, having something broken into is one of the most awful feelings! I'm so sorry!! Such an invasion of privacy, I completely understand your throwing up-ness. Sdklj so horrible. Do you know, I always wonder how those people with soft-top cars and jeeps and those sorts of cars get by. I would be SO WORRIED, ALL THE TIME, but then I guess they've conditioned themselves not to leave important things in the car, or any things at all for that matter. I JUST COULDN'T DO THAT. I'm so glad you didn't have much taken, so lucky!

PS I'M GLAD YOU GOT THEM I WAS STARTING TO WORRY, IT'D BEEN ALMOST A MONTH *_*
