Ohh, I know what you mean about the found family. I haven't had one of those since I lived in Waynesville, working at a newspaper with a bunch of other people, all of us barely out of our teens, spending all our waking hours together. There was a New Year's Eve when it snowed about ten inches, and the only vehicle in the group that could make it through the snow was Lisa's Jeep, and so all of us piled into it and went to the video store and rented nine videos, and then all of us went home with Lisa and slept on her floor and watched videos until we couldn't see straight. And then back to work on Monday, all together, still in the clothes we'd been wearing before the holiday ...
I've always thought my lack of a found family now was related to being married (and now to having a kid), but it is true that there aren't really very many people in Peoria who are from my home planet. I've picked out one or two here or there, but while they're perfectly willing to be my friends, they're stubbornly resisting being friends with each other, so they don't meld into that sort of group, and if I try to invite them all to a party, the party tends to refuse to jell.
I remember I used to have dreams where I lived with all my friends in a big hotel or dorm or something. I miss that.
