I'm not a hypochondriac. But I am perhaps suggestible.

[livejournal.com profile] coco_palmolive has many talents--she is lucky that way--and among her many talents she counts the ability to completely freak me out with an offhand layman's medical diagnosis. I'm not exactly sure what it is about her theories which spark panic in me. It may be just that I am a person who normally doesn't even think about the possibility of being sick because my default mode is utter, disgustingly blooming health, aside, you know, from the allergy thing; so that when I do get sick, I assume it's something minor that will pass in no time.

Until, that is, coco says something like, "You know, those symptoms sound sort of like West Nile Virus to me!" And I immediately think OMG WHAT IF SHE IS RIGHT??? And if I say "I am so tired this afternoon," she might say, "I worry that you might be anemic," and so I go to the grocery store after work and carefully seek out foods high in iron, despite the fact that we both know perfectly well that the reason why I am tired probably has less to do with anemia--though I concede that anemia is a definite possibility--than with the fact that between the heat and the dog and the weirdnesses going on in my dream cycle, I just don't sleep very well, lately.

Anyway, want to come over to my house for smoked oysters, spinach, and dried apricots? I have plenty.

I stole this test from [livejournal.com profile] woodyinvincible. I've taken it a million times, but I think this is the first time I've ever gotten this result, and it surprised me so much that I went back and took it again, just to make sure.

INFJ - the counselor
You scored 0% I to E, 42% N to S, 19% F to T, and 36% J to P!
Your type is best summed up by the word "counselor", which belongs to the larger group of idealists. Only 2% of the population share your type. You are so empathic that you often know what others need before they know themselves. You are a complex person who can deal with complicated issues and people, almost prefer to, as you love problem solving. You can be something of an idealist or perfectionist, and should try to take yourself a little less seriously.
You are a supportive and insightful romantic partner, encouraging your mate to have dreams and work hard to make those dreams come true. Because you are so creative, you have a wealth of ideas to help them toward those goals. You need harmony so much that you are driven to resolve conflict quickly, as long as the terms don't violate your ethics. You feel the most appreciated when your partner admires your creativity, trusts your inspirations, and respects your values. It is also vitally important that your partner be open and emotionally available - in other words, that they be willing to share themselves completely.
Your group summary: idealists (NF)
Your type summary: INFJ

I'm a teacher, and I'm in the idealist group too. Hmm.

Why do you think you got a different result than usual? Do you think maybe you've changed?

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure if I've changed or not, in essence, but I may have changed in the way I feel toward the way I am, if that makes sense. I've always gotten ISTP or ISTJ, before. But looking back, I was never all that sure how to answer the S/N and T/F questions, because they don't necessarily ask you what you are like so much as what you are comfortable with, if that makes any sense. I never really trusted the intuitive/feeling side of me, I guess, and maybe I am a little more comfortable with expressing emotion, now that I've been a spottily confessional blogger for several years.

*rambles on and on*

Really, I think that is it. Not different so much as feeling more in touch with my N/F side, these days.

[identity profile] dahlia-777.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. I'm not familiar enough with the letter-code to understand any of that. But if it means you feel better about yourself these days, that's really good. <3333

[identity profile] dahlia-777.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Hang on, I put some girly hearts after that but they didn't show up. Let me try again: <333333

I've been holding off saying this because it's so pretty, but your layout is a bit inconvenient - possibly because I'm a mac user. Half the text in every comment gets hidden behind the icon.

[identity profile] dahlia-777.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, there they are. Don't know what happened the first time, but I'm relieved your layout doesn't eat hearts after all.

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
The S2 style does, in fact, eat hearts sometimes, but not all the time.

And I didn't know you were having trouble reading this! :( I'll see if I can fix it sometime in the next couple of days.

[identity profile] bowdlerized.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
What are you usually? INTP? Maybe the lack of iron is skewing your test results. :P

I took that iteration of the quiz and got my normal result of ENTJ. *shrug*

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
hahahaha!

Don't forget blackstrap molasses- that's a great one for iron, too. If you can't chug it straight, get some of that Aussie licorice, which is made with molasses but manages not to taste too much like it.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who's suggestible. My sister calls it my "What are you dying of THIS week?" syndrome. My scariest episode was convincing myself that the shooting pains in my chest were cancer, when really it was just my bra underwire that had punctured my bosom.

Like [livejournal.com profile] bowdlerized, I'd like to know what you usually score on these tests. I get ISFJ every single time, no matter HOW anemic I am at quiz-taking time. ;D

[identity profile] tofty.livejournal.com 2005-07-27 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
I read about molasses, but was uncertain exactly how to eat it--by the spoon, what?--so skipped it at the grocery. I'll take a look for the Aussie licorice, though, because it sounds much more my speed.

My scariest episode was convincing myself that the shooting pains in my chest were cancer, when really it was just my bra underwire that had punctured my bosom.

I feel kind of bad for admitting this, because, you know, it sounds quite painful, but I have been giggling over this story for five minutes straight! :D:D:D:D:D:D

And see my answer to Dahlia above, in re my usual score!
