Wow. As the parent of a toddler my own personal nightmare is having more than one toddler to deal with. I can't imagine being confronted with 70 of them. Especially when you include the Child Multiplication Factor: for every child you see, there are actually 10 more occupying different spots.
I'm glad your manager recognized that you needed hazard pay.
