I can feel my heart beating in my eyes.
Apr. 1st, 2007 08:30 pmGuess what, guess what? I got my azaleas planted! And my gerbera daisies potted! And it looks awesome! In fewer than like ten years I may just have a front yard that doesn't look as though it were planted by the Horticulturally-Impaired Garden Club! :D:D:D:D
And my allergies mercifully waited until I'd planted everything and tidied up after to really kick in, but by the time I'd got in and showered, they'd definitely kicked, and hard, like the proverbial gigantic mule who failed anger management class. (Isn't there a proverb like that somewhere?) It was the tidying that did it, I think; I cleared the table and chairs and shook out the rug and chair-cushions and dusted the door and mailbox and windowsills, and by the time I was done, I estimate that I had about 1.7 pounds of pollen in my lungs, which has since all migrated to my head, from right behind my eyeballs down to my throat, and threatens to explode out of me whenever I move my head, or, you know, blink. Ow, ow, ow.
Which was the perfect excuse to spend all of today languishing at my desk listening to books on tape (if languishing is a thing one can do at a desk), and also fielding calls from my 87-year-old ne'er-do-well adventurer grandfather, who just got his first computer and unsurprisingly has many questions about it. Most of my answers were easy ones: "Okay, I believe you're probably holding the mouse the wrong way." But one thing did kind of stump me. He can print a test page on his printer, and from Excel or from other applications, but when he prints from any word processor, from Word down to Notepad, the printer feeds through a blank page. We tried all the usual problem-solving techniques I could think of, from rebooting to uninstalling/reinstalling his printer, and I even went out to MS support, but didn't find anything especially useful. Has anyone ever seen this problem before?
