*overdoses on Harry Potter*

Over two years ago--let me repeat that, two years--I was part of a top-five community and the world's best top-five list was posted: your top five HP songs, book by book, 25 songs in all, since HBP hadn't been posted yet. I loved, loved the list, but was paralyzed making it; I always have trouble making top five song lists unless I just grit my teeth and make it into an exercise in automatic writing. Which I finally did. In bits and pieces, since a little before this past Christmas as a present for the friend who first posted the list. And since I finally made the CDs and the inserts and posted the package and I CANNOT CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE, and since a couple of people expressed an interest in the soundtracks when I mentioned them the first time around, I thought I'd share. And I can post the songs for download if anyone's interested.

Now that it's done, it doesn't seem like it should have been so hard. But that's what you get for overthinking every single thing.

Top five notes about this soundtrack list:

(1) I feel the need to apologize for overrepresenting certain artists, but I won't.
(2) The lists are far longer than the originally specified 5 songs. This is because I found it impossible to narrow it down that far. In fact, it was really hard to narrow it down as far as I did: one CD per book. What can I say? I associate a lot of songs with HP.
(3) This is a canon-list only. I have a whole nother list for fanon.
(4) I will leave it to you to guess why I associate the songs with the books. Most are pretty obvious, I think, though.
(5) They are not in order by preference, but in vaguely book order.
