Top ten reasons why today is not a good day:

  1. After we all thought that the worst was over and my family was safe in the aftermath of Rita, it turns out that my uncle and two of my cousins lost their houses

  2. My officemate is out for the day being tested for mouth cancer

  3. I had a long and complicated dream about moving and everything going wrong, including my dog dying

  4. Michael Brown

  5. I have a toothache

  6. I got home from work yesterday and discovered that my laptop will not boot up

  7. Michael Brown

  8. I slept wrong and my neck is killing me

  9. I want to go home and worry and mope and sleep but instead must work for a living

  10. I hate Michael Brown so goddamn bad

I talked to HP support and I believe, after they told me to do everything that I already did the once on my own, that the consensus is that my motherboard is dead. Thank God for three-year warranties, is all I have to say about that.

I am kind of pissed off that I will have to live without my laptop until everything is fixed, but the fact that it is going to be--I think--covered by warranty is making me feel just a little bit better. (Tom DeLay's bad day has also contributed, in a small way, to the improvement of my mood.)

So I will be looking at an ancient laptop I have in my possession and seeing if I can't get it online against its will, but in the meantime I will only be able to check email and lj from work. I will do my best to keep up.

[livejournal.com profile] 21stcenturysei! Did you hear the interview with your girl Myla on NPR? She is twelve years old, or at least, she certainly sounds as though she is. She is also rather charming.
