enough is enough.
May. 2nd, 2005 07:56 pmWhen I first started my new job, I had ten days to fill out my benefits enrollment package, or I would have to wait until company open enrollment to do it. Of course I forgot and then couldn't find the package, and so I've been insurance-less for two months, and finally it's open enrollment and I can choose how I want to be screwed by the American health-care juggernaut.
And O_o I've been staring at forms for the past hour and a half, because in its infinite wisdom my employer has chosen to offer us, the hapless and underinformed general office staff, SIXTEEN (16) general health plans to choose from. HMO, POS, PPO, HDHP, different levels of coverage, extra compensations for OON services. I have a huge headache, but I believe I've made my decision. However, I'm afraid to actually enroll because I have no idea whether I've made the right decision and what if I haven't I will have to suffer for one more year.
At least I am not alone in my suffering; these sixteen (16) plans are new for everyone, so today we were all wandering around in a daze, mumbling to ourselves about deductibles and medical reimbursement accounts and surreptitiously wiping away tears of frustration.
Man, I love the American health-care system. I am off to offer up my tithe right this minute.
