Belated thankfulness

OMG I'm very very thankful for police officers who clock you going 70 in a 45-mph zone (which for you non-Americans is officially considered Reckless Driving and can be a felony depending on how crappy your police officer's mood is), collect all your data, make you sweat for five minutes, and then come back to you and say, "If I let you off with a warning on this one, will you promise to slow the hell down?"

Thank you, officer. I promise to slow the hell down, yes indeed.

Oh, yay! Yay for policemen with mercy! And this guy clearly had you pegged correctly as someone who absolutely WOULD slow the hell down after a nice warning like that.

Man, talk about surplus adrenalin after an occasion like that. Did you go home and polish something, or maybe do a few jumping jacks?

Heh -- actually, I look like the sort of person who'd never speed any the first place! Looks can be deceiving, but in this case, man, I have been dedicatedly driving the speed limit for the rest of the day. I mean to make that officer proud of me.

And no, I just went to work (which was where I was going when I got stopped); I had a big system upgrade to do today. But you'd better believe I was a well-oiled machine for that upgrade!

Oh, and! Welcome back! You are going to tell us all about the trip, right?

Now, why didn't that one pull me over last year? I got an actual ticket. You're very lucky.

What I can't figure out, though, is how on earth you managed to go 70 mph in your area. I've driven around there (in the general direction of Alpharetta, mostly), and I remember traffic being way too crowded to go fast. You must know some good roads.

Also, I meant to give you a big hug on your last post, but I forgot. So {{hugs}} anyway.

Oh, I live an hour south of Atlanta and its environs, in a much smaller city, but even Alpharetta lets up on occasion -- although I don't think I've ever managed to hit high speeds on surface roads there, come to think of it.

In my city, there's this one stretch of road near my office that bottlenecks and then miraculously clears; when you make it through that knot, it kind of feels as though you're being shot out of a cork, and it's very easy to go faster than you mean to out of sheer pleasure to be moving again. Obviously.

thanks for the hugs -- and right back atcha. *hugs*
