constanceSomeone kindly sent our office a free fried turkey for lunch, and we all leapt on that turkey like a horde of ravening [insert your choice of Things That Raven here], and now we are all logy and turkey-drunk and not wanting to work, and there are only a little more than two hours left in a day during which not much is going to happen anyway.
And so while my next-door neighbor keeps demanding updates on my activities ("You're not doing anything, right? Don't be working!"), I've been spending my time since lunch – that's almost two hours, for the record – exploring the delights of The Oriental Trading Company. Do you remember them? Do you remember getting their catalogs and poring over them with your friends trying to decide what you'd buy if your parents would QUIT BEING SO MEAN and let you have the money to buy huge lots of things that not only did you not need but no one has ever needed? Wow, did I love the Oriental Trading Company. How could I so thoroughly have forgotten them during my adult life?
Now, if you had asked me yesterday if I'd ever, now that I'm more than ten, feel like forking over hard-earned cash for a dozen containers of Slime, I'd have (1) said no way and (2) privately thought you were kind of crazy. And yet today I am tempted! It's only $5.95! On sale! And that is only the tip of the iceberg, I assure you. There are mood rings (which yesterday I'd still totally have wanted those)! Kites (okay, probably I'd've been interested in those, too)! Holiday Rubber Duckies! All in one place! All dirt cheap! All in bulk quantities! It is the American Way!
I'm not sure why after so many years one of their catalogs ended up in my inbox, but it surely has made my afternoon easier.
