(20) hanging out with people who enter into your pursuits
The people I work with and otherwise have daily contact with: I like them, I genuinely do, but we don't share a whole lot of common ground. I'm a private person by nature anyway, but I deliberately keep a whopping great portion of my life completely hidden from most people by necessity, because the way I am, passionately committed to a love for people and places that don't exist, would, I suspect, be completely inexplicable to most of the people I've come to know in real life.
So I can't overstate the pleasure I take in a small thing like hanging out with two of my best-beloved online peeps for a day, talking about life and fiction both in ways that make it clear that the fiction's as interesting to all of us as the real life is, and being unapologetic about that. Mix that in with lovely weather and hipster boutique shopping and what you've got is a damn-near-perfect day.
