(14) the Sunday NYT crossword puzzle
When I lived in New Orleans, I became good friends with another friend's new girlfriend, and one of my fondest memories of living in the city is spending Sunday mornings picking H up and going with her to a beloved coffee shop, buying breakfast and the New York Times and doing the crossword together, calling out answers and filling them in as fast as we could go, and we'd finish the puzzle -- with two people, it's not quite so difficult to do -- and head back to H and D's apartment, where D, a late riser, would usually just be getting up.
I still do the crossword, online or in books now, and I admit it's not the same without someone to sit down with, but it's still an excellent way to spend Sunday morning.
